It describes a cushion with "pockets" to keep the eiderdown feathers in place, particularly useful in fixed arm and back cushions where plumping up would be difficult.

Below is the back of one our Sharcott Armchairs based on an original Howard and Sons design. This perfectly demonstrates the siege de duvet principal with 2 internal baffles creating 3 separate pockets for feathers:
