Here is a Howard and Sons Bridgewater Armchair which came in for restoration in a slightly sorry state.

As well as the obvious re-upholstery needed this chair also required some frame and leg restoration.

Luckily with our skilled staff, this chair is now stronger than the day it was made.

Original materials reused and revitalised where possible, the original Howard cushions look great after a quick blow with our feather blower.

Our skilled staff can also undertake re-upholstery commissions using the same traditional methods and materials.

If you are looking for a comfortable, quality sofa or armchair, we have our own small standard range, or we offer a full bespoke service, handcrafting the exact item to your own individual requirements.

Every item of furniture we make is custom-made with hand cut mortise and tenon jointed (not inferior dowels/screws), solid hardwood frame, hand tied coil springs and a quality hair filling. Cushions are filled with the softest duck down and feather. Covered with the fabric and trimmings of your choice, or if you prefer, with removable loose covers. Fabrics can be selected from our library of suppliers and manufacturers or can be provided by the client.

All work is carried out in our own workshop, which you are welcome to visit as well as our showroom.

We also occasionally offer for sale fully restored antique and period pieces.

About Roy Coles

Roy Coles has run his Wiltshire based upholstery business since 1988, gaining a reputation for high quality traditional upholstery.

Examples of Roy’s work may be found in some of the finest houses in the country.

Whilst dealing in all aspects of the trade, he specialises in the re-use of antique fabrics and the creation of bespoke sofas and armchairs

Roy learned his skills with an apprenticeship in cabinet making and furniture restoration, gaining sixteen years experience with a local family business of house furnishers and fitters.

With the business ever expanding, Roy has been able to assemble a small team of skilled craftsmen whilst still overseeing and participating in ongoing projects and commissions.

New Howard Style Armchair - The Ebble - 8/1/2013

Here is our new Howard style armchair its is based on the Ingleby / Clayton model with a siege de duvet fitted back cushion much like you would find on a Bridgewater or Avon as we call our version.

The straight seat rails give this a more upright seating position as opposed to the Bridgewater / Avon.

Howard Bridgewater Armchair Copy - 29/10/2012

A client recently came into our showroom and sat on an old original Howard Bridgewater Armchair we had, he liked it so much he wanted one copied only with square tapering legs instead of turned legs.

Using the Howard Bridgewater style seat and back topped with "siege de duvet" feather and down seat and back cushions this small sofa is delightfully comfortable.

At a width of 173cm / 53inches and a depth and height of 80cm / 32inches, this sofa has been designed to suit the smaller living room or large bedroom.
